Osimhen one step closer to moving level with legendary Odegbami in all-time top scorers’ race

Extends records as Super Eagles top scorer in AFCON qualifiers

Nigeria defeated Benin 3-0 in Group D of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game in Uyo on Saturday with Victor Osimhen scoring a historic goal.

The 25-year-old found the back of the net five minutes after he was subbed on in Nigeria’s 3-0 win.

With this goal, Osimhen rose to 3rd place in the list of the Nigerian National Team’s all-time top scorers with his 22nd strike on his 36th appearance.

He has thus surpassed Yakubu Aiyegbeni who scored 21 goals for the Super Eagles.

Osimhen is just one goal away from catching the legendary Segun Odegbami in second place on the list.

At the top of the list is Nigeria’s legendary striker Rashidi Yekini.

Yekini found the back of the net 37 times for the Super Eagles.
Osimhen however sits top of Nigeria’s top scorers’ list in Africa Cup of Nations qualification games.

The Galatasaray striker has now scored 16 goals in 13 matches.
