Osimhen: ‘Only De Laurentiis Can Decide My Napoli Future’

‘Victor Osimhen says his future depends on what Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis decides.

The Nigerian scored in the 2-0 defeat of Sampdoria in his and Napoli’s final game of the 2022/23 season and was crowned the first African player to end a
Serie A season as top scorer.

The Nigerian, 24, was asked outright if he will be at Napoli next season and he left it open-ended, aware the offers that come in could be too hard to turn
down.

‘I don’t know, the President has to decide that. I love the people of Napoli, they have shown me so much love. For me, I don’t mind, the President decides
and I will just go with the flow.’

De Laurentiis has however reiterated his desire to keep the core of the Serie A-winning team together, ruling out a potential summer move for Osimhen.

Osimhen says the season has been a great one for him after scoring 31 goals across all competitions with 26 coming in the Serie A.

‘This season has been brilliant for me, my teammates and the Neapolitans. I think I’ve done so well this season and deserve every good thing I’ve got, but I
feel motivated to do even more next season.

‘Everything is possible. Just like when we started the season, lots of people didn’t believe in Napoli. If the President says we can win it, I believe it,
everything is possible.’

Osimhen was also handed his award as the best striker in the competition.

The former Lille of France forward has also become the first Napoli player and the first player since 2009 to combine the Capocannoniere crown with the
Scudetto since Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Inter Milan.
