Osimhen opens Galatasaray goals account with a brace, injured

After providing three assists in his first three games for Galatasaray, Victor Osimhen finally found the back of the net not once but twice, but his Super Lig side collapsed in the final minutes of the game to give up a three goal lead in their match week seven league at the Rams Park in Istanbul.
Osimhen was paired with Mauro Icardi for the first time since the Nigerian joined the Yellow and Red on loan from Serie A side, Napoli and the duo delivered the club’s three goals of the game.
Osimhen netted the first two on 20 and 28 minutes before Icardi scored the third six minutes later for what looked an imminent massacre of Kenneth Omeruo’s Kasimpasa but a Mamadou Fall’s 44th goal gave the visitors hope.
The Nigerian did not return for the second half apparently due to an injury while Icardi stayed on till the 74th minute.
After his exit, Galatasaray collapsed as they fell to two late goals on 83 and 95th minute to draw their first game of the season in the competition.
They were also denied the chance to set a record of seven straight wins at the start of a Super Lig season.
It is not certain yet the nature of Osimhen’s injury but Nigerians will be hoping he does not stop him from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double header against Libya next month.
