Osimhen: We need to make sure we get it right against Ivory Coast

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen says they will need to be ready to fight when they face Africa Cup of Nations host, Ivory Coast in their must-not-lose second group A gameon Thursday.

Nigeria drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea in their opening group game, a result Osimhen called ‘disappointing.’

“The first game was really disappointing,” said Osimhen who netted the equalizer in the game against Equatorial Guinea.

“Going forward we need to make sure we get it right in the next game, which is against a tougher opponent,’ added the 25 year old.

Osimhen says he believes the Super Eagles will rise to the ocassion as they have the talent to do so.

“I think we have the quality to make sure we have a very good tournament that we can be proud of.”

This is the Napoli forward’s second AFCON appearance after missing the last one in Cameroun through injury.

“In 2019 when I came, Ighalo was there. He is a big brother to me, so it was important for me to go through this learning process from him, to get this experience.’

“I was supposed to be there in Cameroon, but of course I had my facial injury.

“Now I am here. It is a dream come true for me. I don’t want to put myself in the centre but of course a lot of people say this. I think I am more of like a team player.
