Pedullà: ‘Lookman is a regret for everyone’

Italian football journalist Alfredo Pedullà has weighed in on the growing rift between Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman and Atalanta, describing the situation as a collective regret and a missed opportunity for both the club and Inter Milan.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pedullà reflected on the failed reconciliation attempt between Lookman and Atalanta.

‘A few days ago, I spoke about efforts to mend the relationship between the club and the player. Clearly, the spark wasn’t reignited. Juric was very clear, even mentioning a lack of desire, a strong signal that paints a picture of a relationship that’s now worn out.’

Pedullà also addressed the broader implications of the collapsed transfer deal involving Inter Milan.

‘It’s a big regret for everyone. Atalanta missed the chance to cash in, and Inter lost out on a profile they desperately need, someone who can beat his man, a key trait in their system. In the end, the deal fell through, and it’s not just the player’s valuation that suffered, but also the boy himself. He played with Nigeria, but hasn’t been seen again with the Dea.”

With the situation at Atalanta unresolved, Lookman’s future remains clouded in uncertainty. Pedullà suggested that the rift may be too deep to repair.

‘Who knows when he’ll be back on the pitch with Atalanta,’ he concluded, warning that the saga could become one of the season’s great unresolved stories.
