Pharco FC Announces Boycott of CAF Competitions, Stands with Senegal Amid AFCON Title Controversy

Pharco FC has officially declared an indefinite boycott of all competitions organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in a move of solidarity with Senegal following the withdrawal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title from the Lions of Teranga.

In its statement, the Alexandrian club described the decision as a protest against what it considers an unjust ruling by CAF.

The boycott theoretically extends to all continental tournaments, including the CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup, and African Super Cup.

While the announcement carries strong symbolic weight, its sporting impact remains limited. Currently ranked 20th and second-to-last in the Egyptian Premier League, Pharco FC is far from qualifying for continental competitions in the near future.

The gesture is therefore seen more as a political stance than a practical measure of pressure on CAF.

Nevertheless, the move underscores the growing climate of mistrust surrounding the continental body. Criticism from football executives, reactions from players, and now positions taken by clubs reflect how the issue has transcended the sporting arena, fueling wider tensions across African football.
