Pimienta: Iheanacho deserves to have more minutes

Garcia Pimienta, head coach of Sevilla FC of Spain has restated his confidence in Kelechi Iheanacho, the Nigerian that joined the LaLiga side as a free agent in July.

The 28-year-old has become surplus to requirement after sitting on the bench for the entirety of Sevilla’s last two games and has been an unused substitute in 10 LaLiga games played so far this season.

He is also yet to score, prompting the fans to start questioning his transfer but Pimienta believes Iheanacho not only deserves to play more minutes but that he will also deliver.

‘I’m happy with him. The other day he was about to enter. He deserves to have more minutes. I’m calm if he has to participate,” Pimienta said regarding the Nigerian striker at his pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of the game at Espanyol on Friday.

Iheanacho will be hoping to get some minutes at the RCDE Stadium on Friday and score his first goal of his debut LaLiga season.

If he scores, it will also be his first in 2024 across all competitions and at both club and national teams.
