Premier League 100 Club: Mohamed Salah draws level with Ian Wright
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has drawn level with Arsenal legend Ian Wright in the all-time Premier League scoring ranks courtesy of his goal against Chelsea Sunday evening.
The Egyptian winger latched on to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pass before beating Marcos Alonso and firing the ball past Edouard Mendy at the near post for his 150th goal in English football.
Of those 150 goals, 113 have now come in the Premier League, drawing Salah level with Wright and seeing him close in on the top 20.
Sadio Mane was also on the scoresheet for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, moving to within one goal of Didier Drogba and drawing back level with the 100 club’s newest member Raheem Sterling.
Meanwhile Salah continues to dominate the race for the 2021/22 Premier League Golden Boot after taking his tally to 16 goals with a superb effort in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea.
Salah’s Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota is also in double figures, with ten goals to his name in second, while Jamie Vardy is third with nine goals despite an inconsistent campaign so far.
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of a host of players tied together on eight goals and the Portuguese will hope to add to that when Manchester United take on Wolves on Monday.
Emile Smith Rowe, Son Heung-min and Emmanuel Dennis were all already on eight goals coming into this weekend, as was Leeds star Raphinha.
However, a couple more players have joined that list, with Michail Antonio back among the goals for West Ham and Sadio Mane ending his goal drought at Stamford Bridge.
