Premier League: Saka’s 50-50 for Bournemouth as Arsenal star boy seeks another record

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta says Bukayo Saka’s injury is not as serious as it was made to look like and that the 23-year-old could be available for selection against Bournemouth in a Premier League match week eight on Saturday.

Saka was seen limping after England’s 2-1 loss to Greece and withdrew from the following game against Finland during the international break and Arteta told the media at his pre-match at the Gunners’ Sobha Realty Training Centre that he will make a late call on Bukayo’s availability for Saturday’s trip to the south coast.

‘It’s not a serious injury. He’s evolving really well. He’s done a few things in the last two days. He wasn’t fit enough to play with the national team the second game, but we are hopeful. We have a training session this afternoon, he did some bits yesterday, so let’s see if he can make it on time,’ said the Arsenal boss.

If he plays, the Nigeria-born England international will be seeking to make history on multiple fronts.

Saka has scored 49 Premier League goals in 71 appearances so far since he made his debut in the competition in 2019.

Aged 23 years and 44 days on the day this Saturday, Saka could become the youngest to net 50 for the club in the Premier League, breaking Thierry Henry’s record who scored 50 goals at 24 years and 128 days old in 2001.

Saka has played 177 Premier League matches and has 42 assists to go with his 49 goals. Only seven players have reached a Premier League century of goal involvements for us.
