President Buhari sends Super Eagles off to AFCON
Sports Minister wishes them luck in Cameroon
Nigeria’s president, Muhamadu Buhari on Tuesday night sent the Super Eagles off to the 33rd African Cup of Nations taking place in Cameroon from 9th January to 6th February, 2022.
The Federal Government of Nigeria hosted the Super Eagles and their officials to a dinner at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja and officially sent them off to Cameroon in style.
According to the Honourable Minister Of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, “These are players who left their clubs in the midst of Covid-19 to represent their Fatherland, that shows patriotism.
“There is no better way to charge them to victory in Cameroon, than hosting the team and have a common ground ahead of the Nations Cup.
“I will not only watch the matches but will be present in Cameroon to support the Super Eagles of Nigeria and also wish them luck for their hard-work,” the minister said.
Dare also wished the injured players of the team who could not make the trip to Cameroon a quick recovery. The team will depart for Cameroon on Wednesday. They face Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in group D.
