Ramot Jimoh runs second fastest 800m time, Britany Ogunmokun DNF

Nearly three weeks after cutting off four full seconds to set a new 2:04.97 personal in the 800m at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, South Carolina, Abike Ramot Jimoh stormed the Charlie Thomas Invitational at the Bryan-College Station in Texas to run 2:06.51, her second fastest time ever over the distance to finish third.

The 21-year-old former Nigeria champion in the 800m will be hoping to run faster on lovers’ day (February 14) when she either returns to Clemson, this time at the Tiger Paw Invitational
or the Indoor Music City Challenge Meet, also on the same date, depending on the meet distance runners will be asked to go to by Mississippi State University.

Jimoh has been in good form this year and has set three new personal best viz in the 800m (2:04.97), the Mile where she ran a new 4:49.49 Nigerian record and in the 1000m where she ran 2:49.22.

The Osheku Athletics Academy product was also named named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team alongside her schoolmate, and Gabrielle Boulay.

They both led the team to the most successful cross country season in nearly a decade last fall. The team finished 11th at the SEC Championship, with Jimoh finishing 23rd and Boulay right behind in 24th.

Both women ran 19:56 in the 6k, breaking the school record in the distance, and are the first women to run sub-20 minutes in university history. Both women earned All-Region Honors at the South Region Championship, finishing 24th and 25th. The two are the first women to earn regional honors since 2016.

Meanwhile, at the 117t Millrose Games, African Games 4x400m gold medalist, Britany Ogunmokun failed to finish the 800m event.
