Real Betis Show Sportsmanship, Hail Lookman’s Masterclass

Real Betis showed remarkable sportsmanship on Thursday night, applauding the brilliance of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman despite being on the receiving end of a heavy defeat in the Copa del Rey.

Lookman, making his debut for Atletico Madrid, marked the occasion in style by scoring and assisting in the 5–0 victory in Seville. His goal made him the first Nigerian to score on debut for the club, a feat that immediately caught the attention of fans and rivals alike.

The 28-year-old struck Atletico’s third goal in a swift counterattack, leaving his marker sprawling before beating another defender and firing past the goalkeeper with precision.

Betis’ official Facebook page acknowledged the moment, posting: ‘It’s hard to say, but that was an outstanding goal from Lookman.’

Lookman wasn’t done there. In the 62nd minute, he set up Antoine Griezmann to add Atletico’s fourth, underlining his impact in a dominant team performance.

Having only completed his transfer from Atalanta earlier in the week, Lookman’s debut could hardly have been more impressive. He will now look to carry that momentum into La Liga, with Atletico set to host Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano this weekend.
