Record setter, Saka named player of the match in England defeat of Switzerland

Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka was named the player of England’s penalty shootout win against Switzerland on Saturday in the Three Lions’ EURO 2024 quarterfinal tie at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The 22 year old drew England level with 10 minutes left in regulation time after Breel Embolo had given the Swiss the lead five minutes earlier.

The Arsenal player in the process becomes the youngest player to score for England in a EURO quarter-final, surpassing Michael Owen against Portugal at EURO 2004.

England captain, Harry Kane hailed Saka for his impactful display.

‘It was a wonderful finish from B, he deserves that. To play the way he did for 120 minutes, not just with the ball but without the ball, you could see how knackered he was. I could not be more proud of him,’ said the Bayern Munich player.
