The stage is set for one of African basketball’s most storied rivalries as Nigeria’s D’Tigers prepare to face Senegal in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Africa Championship 2025.

The match will tip off at 19:00 local time (GMT+1) on Wednesday, August 20, in what promises to be a high-octane showdown between two continental powerhouses.

Nigeria arrives at this pivotal encounter with an unblemished record, having swept through the group stage with victories over Cameroon, Tunisia, and Madagascar.

The D’Tigers have been the tournament’s most prolific scoring team, averaging 87.7 points per game—more than any other nation in the competition.

Their offensive efficiency has been matched by a disciplined defensive structure, positioning them as one of the favorites for the title.

Senegal, meanwhile, enters the quarterfinals with a chip on their shoulder. A surprise loss to Egypt in Group D relegated them to second place, setting up this early clash with Nigeria.
