Rivers Hoopers kick off NBPL phase two against Hoops & Read in Port Harcourt

Reigning Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) champions Rivers Hoopers will begin their Phase Two campaign of the 2025 season with a high-stakes clash against last year’s runners-up, Hoops & Read, on Sunday, September 28.

Phase Two of the NBPL season brings together all teams from the two groups within each conference, Atlantic and Savannah, at a single venue for round-robin matchups.

The top four teams from each conference will advance to the Playoffs, which will be contested in a knockout format. The final four teams will then face off in a round-robin series, with the team earning the most points crowned 2025 NBPL champions.

Sunday’s Matchday One fixture between Rivers Hoopers and Hoops & Read, scheduled for a 5pm tipoff, will reignite memories of last season’s championship showdown, where the KingsMen clinched their sixth league title with a commanding 71–54 victory.

Following Sunday’s opener, Rivers Hoopers will face Kwara Falcons on September 30, Comets on October 1, and Lagos Legends on October 2 to wrap up their Phase Two fixtures.

All games will be held at the Indoor Basketball Court located at #59 Niger Street, Port Harcourt Township, Rivers State.
