Rivers Hoopers Launch Off-Season Series Showcasing Players’ Lives

The Rivers Hoopers have launched a new off-season lifestyle series, Keeping Up With The KingsMen, offering fans a closer look at how players are spending time away from competitive basketball.

Episode One, titled Living, Giving, and Levelling Up, highlights stories of growth, family, and community impact among the team’s stars.

For team captain Victor Koko, the off-season has been life-changing.

In December, he welcomed his first child, describing the experience as ‘the best birthday present one could ever ask for.’

Fatherhood, he explained, has brought new routines and strengthened his faith.

‘As a first-time dad, the journey has been incredible… It has also improved my relationship with God and my understanding of how He cares for His children,’ Koko said.

Beyond family life, Koko has also been active in philanthropy. In January, he partnered with the Ibrahim Soyoye Foundation (ISF), participating in a mini basketball tournament in Port Harcourt and later joining an outreach to a remand home on February 14.

‘It was awesome. We encouraged the kids there and helped them see life in a positive light despite their past experiences,’ he said

Meanwhile, shooting guard Favour Komene has used the off-season to sharpen his skills and expand his personal brand.

He featured in an invitational tournament in Delta State in December and later represented the Soso BobManuel Academy at the ISF mini tournament, where his team emerged champions.

Off the court, Komene has embraced digital creativity, producing short TikTok videos that showcase his personality and connect with fans.

From Koko’s journey into fatherhood and community service to Komene’s relentless training and creative ventures, the Rivers Hoopers’ off-season has been anything but quiet. The series promises more insights into how the KingsMen balance basketball with life beyond the game.
