Rivers United must be ready for North African foes – Barr. Green

Three-time Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barr. Christopher Abinye @Chris Green Green says Rivers United must be ready to beat the best if the want to be the best in the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup with the quarter final draw of the competition set to hold today in Cairo, Egypt.
Rivers United will face one of the defending champions, USMA (Algeria), RS Berkane (Morocco) or Zamalek (Egypt) in the last eight and Barr. Green insists that having a preference of the opponent at this stage of the competition will be tantamount to sitting on a keg of gunpowder.
“Experience has taught me that when you get to this stage of the competition, you cannot start choosing who you want to face. You instead prepare for all possibilities, do your homework and strive to excel. Our objective remains winning the CAF Confederation Cup title and we will not relent in our efforts,” said the astute Sports administrator, Barr. Green, a former Executive Committee member of the Nigeria Football Association where he served as Chairman of the technical and development committee.
