Romano: ‘Osimhen is not going to give up on his €11m a season salary’

Transfer market expert and journalist, Fabrizio Romano has said the possibility of Victor Osimhen playing next season as a Napoli player is high as the Nigerian is not ready to lower his€11m (£9.5m) net per season.

The Nigerian is believed to be interested in a move away from Italy and French Ligue 1 side, PSG have reportedly agreed a deal with the 25-year-old but will not pay Napoli the player’s 130m euros release clause.

Premier League sides, Chelsea are also said not to be willing to pay the player’s release clause while Arsenal are reportedly ready to pay but do not want to pay Osimhen’s high salary demands.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Romano says there is no chance Osimhen will be leaving Napoli if he has to lower his salary.

‘Osimhen is not going to give up on his salary. So, forget about Osimhen cutting his salary. It’s something that isn’t going to happen,’ said Romano.

‘And it’s a big salary, €11m (£9.5m) net per season. So interest still there, but no movements in the recent hours. And I feel that it’s gonna be something for the final weeks,’ the Italian said.

Meanwhile, Radio CRC, the official broadcaster of the Neapolitan club also think Osimhen can still be a Napoli player next season.

‘The hypothesis that Victor Osimhen can stay, in fact, exists. So far, no one has made a suitable offer to Napoli; otherwise, he would not be in Castel di Sangro today.

‘It doesn’t have to start it’s not written anywhere. His contract expires in 2026: why not think of having him have a great season with Antonio Conte, with whom he could score as many as 30 goals, so as to further enhance him? Osimhen is still young and would also have a market in 2025,’ said Radio CRC.
