Rosemary Chukwuma scorches to new 11.05s 100m Lifetime Best
Moves to number 8 in Nigerian all-time list, Brume also runs new PB IN 100M
Texas Tech University undergraduate student Rosemary Chukwuma made it a perfect weekend of incredible sprinting for Nigerian athletes in the USA colleagiate circuit after she scorched to an incredible 11.05s lifetime best to win the 100m event at the Tom Jones Invitational at Gainesville, Florida.
The 20 year old ran against a slight head wind (-0.1 m/s) to come second behind Melissa Jefferson (11.00s) of Coastal Carolina University while another Nigerian, Tokyo 2020 Olympics semifinalist, Grace Nwokocha came in third in 11.13s.
Chukwuma’s time is the seventh fastest in the world so far this outdoor season, third fastest by an African and second fastest by a Nigerian behind Favour Ofili who stormed to an 11.00s finish last weekend.
The time is also the eighth fastest in the Nigerian all-time list.
At the same event, Godson Oghenebrume of Louisiana State University also ran 100th of a second faster than his 10.13s personal best to place fifth in the race Matthew Boling ran 9.98s to win.
The time, the second fastest by a Nigerian so far this year moves the 18 year old level with Abdullah Tetengi as the 26th best in the Nigerian all-time list.
