Sanwo-Olu, Abiru celebrate Oshodi’s return as ITTF Vice President
Wahid Enitan Oshodi’s re-election as Executive Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has sparked widespread celebration among Nigerian leaders and sports stakeholders.
The announcement came during the continuation of the ITTF Annual General Meeting held online on Saturday, November 15, 2025, and was hailed as a recognition of Oshodi’s remarkable leadership, expertise in global sports administration, and unwavering dedication to the growth of table tennis in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, described Oshodi’s re-election as a testament to his hard work and sterling leadership qualities.
The Governor noted that Oshodi has distinguished himself at every level, state, national, continental, and international, and praised his immense contributions to sports development.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Oshodi would continue to elevate the fortunes of table tennis in Nigeria and Africa, positioning the sport to compete at the highest global standards.
Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, also extended his congratulations, describing Oshodi’s victory as well deserved. He emphasized that the achievement reflects Oshodi’s competence, distinguished leadership, and steadfast commitment to the advancement of table tennis worldwide.
Anthony Adeboye, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports, commended Oshodi’s consistency and integrity, noting that his influence has uplifted the standard of table tennis in Nigeria while inspiring the next generation of African sports leaders.
Adeboye remarked that Oshodi’s new mandate further strengthens his role in positioning Africa as a force in global sports.
Oshodi, who also serves as President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), will continue his tenure on the ITTF Executive Board for another four years, from 2025 to 2029. He will work closely with ITTF President Petra Sörling to drive the sport’s growth and ensure Africa’s stronger presence on the international stage.
