Semenyo Seals Man City Deal, Warns EPL Rivals: ‘My Best Football Is Yet to Come’
Antoine Semenyo has completed a sensational move to Manchester City, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract that ties him to the Etihad Stadium until 2031.
The 26-year-old forward, who has risen rapidly to become one of the Premier League’s most feared attackers, arrives from AFC Bournemouth with a clear message to his new rivals: ‘My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that.’
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his professional journey at Bristol City, sharpening his skills through loan spells at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland.
His breakthrough at Ashton Gate caught the eye of Bournemouth, who secured his services midway through the 2022/23 season. Since then, he has flourished, making 110 appearances for the Cherries and establishing himself as one of the league’s most exciting wingers, particularly operating from the left side of an attacking midfield trio.
Now stepping into Pep Guardiola’s star-studded squad, Semenyo is eager to add flair and firepower to a team still competing on four fronts this season. He is eligible to feature immediately, including in next Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle.
Speaking on his arrival, Semenyo told the club’s official website: ‘I am so proud to have joined Manchester City. He added: ‘I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It’s a real privilege to be here. My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that.
‘And City are in a great position, still involved in four competitions. I really feel I can help them have a strong second half of the season. The Etihad is my new home. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans here and I hope to show everyone what I can do.’
