Semi Ajayi returns from Super Eagles duty, set for 190th Sky Bet Championship appearance

Semi Ajayi is back at West Brom after helping Nigeria secure four points and two clean sheets in their opening two games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against the Cheetahs of Republic of Benin and the Amavubi of Rwanda.
The 30-year-old started both games and will now shift focus to the Sky Bet Championship where his club is campaigning.
Ajayi has started all four games in the Sky Bet Championship for the Baggies and will be looking to make his fifth straight start when his club visit Fratton Park on Sunday to face their host, Portsmouth.
If he plays, it will be his 190th appearance in the competition since he made his debut in January 2017 in his then club, Rotherham United’s 2-0 loss at the City Ground to Nottingham Forest.
Since then, the Nigerian has gone on to start 163 of the 189 times he has featured in the competition.
Ajayi featured 126 times for West Brom in the competition and scored 10 goals while he played the remaining 63 games for Rotherham United, netting eight times.
