Simbine to take on Noah Lyles over 150m at adidas Atlanta City Games
Former African 100m record holder, Akani Simbine will face Noah Lyles over 150m at the adidas Atlanta City Games on Saturday, according to the start list released by the organizers on Wednesday.
Simbine holds a 15.04 best over the event and will face reigning Lyles, the World double sprint champion who is the third fastest man over 150m following the 14.56 he ran to win the event last year ahead of another American, Erriyon Knighton (14.85) with Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala finishing third to set the 14.89 African best in the event.
World 100m and 200m record holder, Usain Bolt also hold the world record for the 150m straight dash, finishing the race in 14.35 seconds at the 2009 BUPA Great City Games in Manchester, England.
Meanwhile, Omanyala and Nigeria’s Udodi Onwuzurike will run in the 100m event while Tobi Amusan who ran a 12.40 world lead in Jamaica at the weekend will run in the 100m hurdles.
Favour Ofili will compete in the 150m while Ese Brume will return to long jump action after winning the event’s gold at the African Games in Accra, Ghana in March.
