Southampton boss declares Onuachu fit for Tottenham clash

Southampton manager Russell Martin has declared Paul Onuachu fit ahead of Sunday’s home match against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Nigerian who returned to Premier League action for the Saints in their 3-1 defeat at Arsenal has missed the last three games in the competition due to the injury he suffered during the 3-2 loss to Liverpool at the Saint Mary’s stadium towards the end of November.

Onuachu, 30, will thus be available to make his 20th appearance for the club this weekend.

Martin is thrilled with Onuachu’s return.

“Paul Onuachu gives us a real alternative option that’s different to anyone in the squad and most people in the league actually.

“He was really unfortunate with the timing of his injury as he was in such a good place and was going to help us, and now he’s going to help us moving forwards.”
