Spanish Press Hails ‘Goal Hunter’ Lookman as Atletico’s New Scoring Machine

Ademola Lookman continued his impressive start at Atletico Madrid with a crucial strike in the UEFA Champions League, earning him glowing praise from the Spanish press.

The Nigerian forward, who was close to joining Fenerbahçe during the winter transfer window before opting for Atletico, scored in the 45+4th minute against Club Brugge to put his side 2-0 ahead.

The match at the Jan Breydel Stadium eventually ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw, but Lookman’s performance stood out as the highlight.

Since arriving in Madrid, the 28-year-old has registered three goals and two assists in just five appearances, averaging a scoring contribution per game.

Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo described him as a ‘goal hunter,’ noting that his sharp finishing and relentless attacking instincts have quickly endeared him to Atletico fans.

Alongside Lookman’s strike, Julian Alvarez converted a penalty in the 8th minute and Joel Ordonez added another in the 79th.

Brugge fought back with goals from Raphael Onyedika, Nicolo Tresoldi, and Christos Tzolis to level the tie.

The return leg of the last-16 playoff will be played in Spain on February 24, where Atletico will look to capitalize on Lookman’s form to secure progression.
