Super Eagles AFCON 2025 Cairo Camp Bubbles With 20 Players as Ndidi Leads Fresh Arrivals

The Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 camp in Cairo is gathering momentum, with 20 players now on ground following the arrival of Wilfred Ndidi and four other stars.

The Beşiktaş midfielder, who will captain Nigeria at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, checked into camp alongside Bruno Onyemaechi, Cyril Dessers, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.

Ndidi’s return to the continental stage is particularly significant. After missing the last edition in Côte d’Ivoire due to injury, the midfielder is set for his third AFCON appearance.

He started in 10 of the 11 matches he has played across the 2019 and 2022 tournaments and now hopes to become only the fourth Super Eagles captain to lift the trophy, following Christian Chukwu in 1980, Stephen Keshi in 1994 and Joseph Yobo in 2013.

Their arrival adds to the growing list of early campers, which includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie; midfielders Fisayo Dele‑Bashiru, Akinsanmiro Ebenezer, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi; defenders Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi‑Samuel, Igho Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Zaidu Sanusi and Calvin Bassey; and forwards Paul Onuachu and Ademola Lookman.

With more players expected in the coming hours, the Eagles’ Cairo base is already buzzing as preparations intensify for Nigeria’s push for a fourth continental crown.
