Super Eagles’ Maduka Okoye Fit for Udinese’s Easter Clash

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been passed fit to feature in Udinese’s Serie A home clash against Cesc Fabregas’ Como on Easter Monday.

Okoye had been a doubt for the fixture after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with Nigeria during friendly matches against Iran and Jordan last week.

He played in the 2-1 victory over Iran but withdrew from camp ahead of the Jordan game due to discomfort. Upon returning to Italy, medical tests revealed the injury was milder than initially feared, clearing him to be available for selection.

The former Watford shot stopper has been enjoying a standout season with Udinese, earning praise from the club’s hierarchy for his consistency.

The 24-year-old has kept seven clean sheets in the league, his best tally since joining from Watford three seasons ago, while conceding 26 goals.

Okoye’s availability comes as a major boost for Udinese as they look to continue their strong campaign in the Italian topflight.
