SWAN Applauds Extension of Bashir Adeniyi’s Tenure as Customs Comptroller-General

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has extended hearty congratulations to Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on the extension of his tenure as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

In a statement issued on behalf of the association’s president, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, SWAN Secretary-General Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo described the tenure extension as a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Adeniyi’s outstanding leadership.

Mr. Benjamin praised the Customs boss for his remarkable achievements within a short period, noting that his contributions have set a historic benchmark in the operations of the NCS. “The decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to retain Mr. Adeniyi is a commendable step toward deepening reforms and consolidating the gains of recent border security advancements,” he remarked.

Highlighting Mr. Adeniyi’s international recognition, Benjamin noted his recent election as Chairperson of the Council of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), positioning Nigeria on the global customs leadership map.

He further applauded Mr. Adeniyi’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, particularly his support for sports development in Nigeria. “His efforts stand as an example for other paramilitary agencies,” Benjamin added, expressing confidence in the CG’s ability to sustain the momentum of progress at the NCS.

The SWAN president concluded with prayers for divine guidance and success in Mr. Adeniyi’s continued service to the nation.
