SWAN Commiserates with Family Over Death of Abba Yola

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed condolences to the family of the late Alhaji Abba Abdullahi Yola, as well as the people of Kano State and the broader Nigerian sports community.

In an official statement signed by SWAN Secretary-General, Ambassador Ikenna Okonkwo, the association’s president, Isaiah Benjamin, acknowledged Yola’s contributions to Nigerian sports.

Yola previously held several positions, including Assistant Director and Chief of Staff to the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare. He also served as Chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club.

Yola passed away recently and was scheduled to be buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
