Terem Moffi attracting interest from Wolves and Leeds United

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United are reportedly weighing up moves for Nice striker Terem Moffi, who is expected to leave the French club in January following a breakdown in relations with sections of the fanbase.

Wolves, currently bottom of the Premier League and 16 points adrift of safety, are bracing for upheaval in the winter transfer window as high earners prepare to depart Molineux.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has already been linked with an exit, and reports suggest Moffi has emerged as a possible replacement. Leeds United, also struggling in the top flight, are said to be monitoring the situation.

Moffi’s time at Nice appears to be nearing its end. The Nigerian forward has scored 24 goals and registered five assists in 72 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, but his relationship with supporters soured after a 3-1 defeat to Lorient in November, when he was assaulted by ultras.

Since then, both player and fans have been unwilling to reconcile, making a transfer inevitable.

The 26-year-old, who cost Nice £25m in 2023, has built a reputation in France with 54 goals from 148 Ligue 1 appearances. However, he has not found the net in the league since September, and a move abroad is now being considered to revive his career.

For Wolves, a deal would be complicated by their precarious position. With fixtures against Liverpool and Manchester United looming, their survival hopes are slim, and investing in a high-wage forward like Moffi on a short-term loan could prove risky.

Leeds, meanwhile, see him as a potential boost to their attack as they battle to climb out of the relegation zone.
