Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are stepping up their pursuit of Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman, with plans to bring him directly to Istanbul after the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
According to Fotomac, senior club officials are preparing to travel to Italy this week to open formal negotiations with Atalanta, where Lookman has been one of the standout performers in Serie A.
Fenerbahçe executive Ertan Torunoğulları and sporting director Devin Özek are expected to lead talks, with the Istanbul club determined to make Lookman their marquee signing of the January window.
Atalanta are holding firm on a valuation of €40 million for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year, while Fenerbahçe are preparing an opening package worth €30 million plus performance-related bonuses.
Club insiders told Fotomac that the Yellow Canaries want the deal wrapped up quickly: ‘We know Lookman is the player who can change our season. The plan is to have him fly straight from AFCON to Istanbul once the agreement is sealed.’
Lookman, currently starring for Nigeria at AFCON 2025, has already registered multiple assists and goals, underlining his reputation as a ‘big-game player.’
His form has made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe, with Galatasaray also monitoring the situation and considering a rival bid.
Negotiations are said to have been positive in early contacts, with Lookman’s representatives open to the move.
