‘There Are No Words to Describe My Feelings,’ says Manuel after Claiming Word Indoor 400m Gold

Lurdes Gloria Manuel of the Czech Republic made a dream debut at the World Indoor Championships in Poland, winning gold in the women’s 400m and announcing herself on the senior stage in style.

The young sprinter was overwhelmed by the achievement.

‘There are no words to describe my feelings at the moment. Making my debut at the World Indoors as a senior and finishing with the gold is something I cannot even dream of,’ she told World Athletics post-race.

She admitted the demanding schedule tested her recovery

‘I was very tired after two races yesterday: the heat in the morning and the semi-final in the evening. It was something unusual for me. I felt like I was not fully recovered.’

Despite fatigue, Manuel produced a powerful finish to secure victory.
