Things fall apart as Napoli remove Osimhen from Serie A squad

Things look to have completely fallen apart between Napoli and Victor Osimhen after the Nigerian was removed from the Serie A club’s squad for the 2024/25 season and his number 9 jersey handed to Romelu Lukaku.

The Nigerian will therefore not be in the squad for the game against Parma this weekend.

Osimhen was expected to have departed Napoli Friday night following the closure of the transfer window in Europe but he did not after Napoli asked Saudi Pro League side, Al Ahli to add an additional 5 million euros to the 80 initially agreed by both parties while Osimhen rejected the paltry 4 million euros proposed as yearly wage by Chelse.

The Nigerian will be hoping another Saudi club comes for him before the transfer window shuts in the middle east on Monday night.

The 25 year old remains contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2026, and is on a contract that costs around €10m per season in wages.
