Thioune Rules Out Boniface Return Ahead of Crucial Cologne Clash
Werder Bremen head coach Daniel Thioune has ruled out a return for striker Victor Boniface ahead of Sunday’s crucial Bundesliga clash at 1. FC Cologne.
Speaking at Friday morning’s press conference, Thioune made clear that the forward is not yet ready for competitive action.
‘I would rule it out for the moment because he is simply not in the physical condition yet,’ Thioune said. ‘But he enjoys our trust. If he is not fit, he will not be in the squad. We’re a few days too early.’
The Green and Whites travel to Cologne on Sunday in what is being billed as a direct duel in the fight to stay in the league. With both sides locked in the relegation battle, the encounter at the RheinEnergieStadion carries enormous weight for the remainder of the season.
Thioune emphasized that while Boniface’s absence is a setback, the team’s focus remains on collective strength and determination.
