‘This is something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid’: Tochukwu Nnadi Celebrates Super Eagles Call‑Up

Tochukwu Nnadi says his invitation to the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is the moment he has been waiting for since childhood.

The 22‑year‑old midfielder, who has been outstanding for Belgian side Zulte Waregem this season, is one of five new faces included in Nigeria’s AFCON roster.

Speaking to the team’s media channel, Nnadi could barely hide his excitement.

‘It was a big moment for me and my family. This is something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid,’ he said. ‘I’ve represented Nigeria at under‑20 level, but getting the call to the senior team came earlier than I expected. I’m grateful and really happy to be here.’

Nnadi, a former Flying Eagles standout, also spoke openly about the responsibility that comes with wearing the green and white, and his desire to help Nigeria chase continental glory.

‘I know the pressure that comes with playing for the national team. We’re a country of over 200 million people,’ he said.

‘It’s a huge weight, but I’m ready to show my quality, give everything for the team, and hopefully help us win the AFCON.’
