Toni Payne: Super Falcons ready for tough Paris 2024 opening game against Brazil

Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne believes their opening group C game against Brazil on July 25 at the Stade de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France will be very tough but reveals they are at the same level as the Brazilian ladies.

Payne, who is being linked with a move to Everton, says they have been preparing really hard and want to make a huge impression like they did at the FIFA Women’s World Cuplast year.

‘Brazil is going to be a tough team, they are very talented, but I think as Nigeria, we are at the same level, so it is going to be a good match and we will get a good result,’ she said and revealed they have been very comfortable at their training camp at Hotel Barcelo Montecastillo Golf and Resort in Spain.

‘The training camp has been going really well, we feel really comfortable here. It’s a bit hot but this is the perfect place to get us ready for the Olympics.

‘As the team is getting together, it definitely feels like summer time again, obviously being in the World Cup, that was an amazing experience, so being able to compete again with this team at the world stage is such a really good opportunity and I’m really excited.

The Falcons will play a friendly game against Canada on Wednesday before flying to France on Thursday.

Spain and Japan will begin hostility in the group on the same day before the Falcons take to the pitch.

The Nigerians will face Spain three days after the game against Brazil at the same venue before playing Japan in their final group game at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
