Troost-Ekong makes Saudi Pro League history with Al Kholood

Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong was in action for the entire duration of his Saudi Pro League side, Al Kholood’s historic win in the Saudi Pro League on Thursday.

The Nigerian who moved to the Saudi Arabia side last month made his fourth start in four games for Al Kholood who defeated Odion Ighalo’s Al Wehda at King Abdulaziz Sports City in Mecca.

A fine second-half strike from Alex Collado earned Troost-Ekong’s side their first-ever Saudi Pro League win.

Playing in the top division for the first time in their history, the Ar Rass outfit lost their first two matches of the campaign against Al Ittihad and Al Riyadh before picking up a point against fellow newly promoted side Al Orobah in Matchweek 3.

Troost-Ekong was able to keep Nigeria international teammate Ighalo quiet for the night, earning his side a first clean sheet.

Ighalo was later subbed off on 71 minutes forAbdulaziz Noor Sheik.
