UEFA Champions League Watch: Lookman nets on 130th Atalanta appearance; Onyedika, Onyemaechi lose

Ademola Lookman was the standout Nigerian performer in the UEFA Champions League this week, marking his 130th appearance for Atalanta with a goal and an assist in their emphatic 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park.
The 28-year-old forward, who last found the net in Atalanta’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan at the end of October, broke his drought in the 60th minute to put La Dea ahead.
Just two minutes later, he turned provider for Ederson to double the advantage. Charles De Ketelaere, who had assisted Lookman’s opener, rounded off the scoring three minutes later to seal a dominant win.
Since joining Atalanta in August 2022, Lookman has now registered 54 goals and 25 assists across all competitions. His Champions League record stands at six goals and three assists in 12 appearances, underlining his growing influence on the European stage.
Elsewhere, Bruno Onyemaechi was once again an unused substitute for Olympiacos in their dramatic 4-3 home defeat to Real Madrid at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Athens, where Kylian Mbappé stole the show with a hat-trick for the visitors.
Raphael Onyedika featured from the start for Club Brugge but endured a difficult night in Lisbon, picking up a yellow card as his side fell 3-0 to Sporting at the Estadio José Alvalade.
