Umar Sadiq: ‘I hope to give my best at Valencia CF’
Valencia CF’s new player, Sadiq Umar, has revealed why he decided to join the club despite offers from other LaLiga clubs for his signature.
‘When I started talking to Miguel I realized that there was a lot of coincidence between Valencia CF and me because in me there is a lot of sporting hunger and I have also seen that due to the situation of the Club he is also very hungry and I have seen this coincidence that made me choose to come here,’ Sadiq said after his unveiling on Saturday.
The Nigerian said the club first made the move about three weeks ago.
‘About three weeks ago they got on with me. Valencia CF is one of the most important clubs in Spain and we are both in the same situation of hunger and growth’.
‘It is true that Valencia CF’s position at the moment is not their normal position. Valencia CF are hungry, as we showed yesterday (Friday against Real Madrid), but we were unlucky,’ said the Nigerian.
He also revealed he has spoken to the club’s head coach, Carlos Corberán.
‘I have spoken to him and he has explained to me what they need from me. They need us all to fight. That is the mission: to fight for Valencia CF. The most important thing is to focus on the team’s work’.
Sadiq also spoke about his experience at Real Sociedad.
‘All players need continuity and at Real I did not get it. Coaches make their decisions, which I respect, but I have to keep moving and I hope to give my best and I wish the best for Real as well’, he added and believes he has fully recovered from the injury that saw him out of action for a very long time.
‘I suffered this knee injury. Before I was at my best, but now I feel 100% physically, what I need is continuity. As a striker what I want is to score goals and have the best possible results’.
