Undeterred Ogunlewe runs 10.18 to zoom into 100m final at Resisprint La Chaux-de-Fonds 2024 in Switzerland
Seye Ogunlewe seems to have put the disappointment of his unfair and wicked treatment by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria behind him after running 10.18 into a head wind to qualify for the final of the 100m event at the Resisprint La Chaux-de-Fonds 2024 in Switzerland on Sunday.
The 32 year old was denied a place in Nigeria’s track and field Olympic Team by the AFN who left him out despite making World Athletics’ standard for qualification for the blue ribband event.
Instead, the federation selected for athletes who ran foul of its selection rules and whose fitness could not be ascertained.
Ogunlewe, who set a 10.03 lifetime best last year in the event has ran 10.11 so far this year as his personal season’s best and could threaten that time in the final later Sunday afternoon in Italy.
The Nigerian will face fellow Africans viz the South African duo of Richardson Benjamin who ran the fastest time (10.08) to qualify for the final and Nkoana Bradley, The Gambia’s Camara Ebrahima, USA’s Baker Ronnie and Great Britain duo of Prescod Reece and Edoburun Ojie.
