Victor Boniface is joint Europa League top scorer with Marcus Rashford

Nigeria’s Victor Boniface is now joint top scorer in the Europa League with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

The Union St Gilloise striker has scored six goals in the tournament this season, with the latest coming in Thursday night’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 22-year-old performances in the tournament have seen him linked with a number of clubs, leading to the Belgian Pro League side’s decision to let the player leave for any club that meets its valuation.

Bonicafe is valued at €6.000 by transfermarket but the Belgian club believes their Nigerian import is worth much more.

The Nigerian, compared to Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has scored six times in nine Europa League games, one less than the seven he has netted in 29 league games.

With just two games to go in Belgium before the play-offs, Union are in the title race thanks to the Nigerian’s goals (7) and assists (6).

They are second on the log, just two points behind leaders Genk. Once the play-offs are confirmed, all points will be halved.
