Victor Boniface undergoes successful operation in Berlin

Bayer Leverkusen centre forward Victor Boniface has had an operation on a groin injury suffered in Nigeria’s training camp in Abu Dhabi for the 34th Africa
Cup of Nations which starts this weekend in Cote D’Ivoire.
According to the official website of the German Bundesliga club, ‘the successful operation on the 22 year old was performed at the Charité hospital in Berlin
by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Stöckle who also operated on the two Bayer 04 players Patrik Schick and Arthur.’
Boniface, according to Bayer Leverkusen, will return to the club this week and ‘start his rehab on Monday at the Werkstatt, the Bayer 04 rehabilitation and
training centre.’
He is expected to be out until April thereby becoming the second Nigerian after Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi ruled out of the competition.
Boniface had been listed as one of the players to dazzle on his debut after scoring 16 times and bagged eight assists in 23 games across all competitions in
his first season in the highly demanding Bundesliga season.
