Victor Orta: ‘Iheanacho was keen and enthusiastic to join us’

Sevilla Sporting Director, Victor Orta has revealed Kelechi Iheanacho’s enthusiasm at switching the Premier to play in the LaLiga encouraged them to speed up the Nigeria’s transfer after leaving Leicester City as a free agent.

‘We always worked with several options, there was a moment when Iheanacho showed a lot of willingness to come and that made us speed up.

‘The people around him saw a great chance to succeed in the Spanish league and I’m very happy about that,’ said Orta at the unveiling of the Nigerian on Tuesday.

Orta said the coming of the Nigerian and Lucien Agoumé was the final piece of the jigsaw for them.

‘I think they come to complete the squad. They were both very keen to come and that makes me happy, when they had other options, even from clubs playing in European competition.

‘The smile was for the personal satisfaction of two players who wanted to be here. They are going to add a lot on and off the pitch and I think they are going to help us a lot,’ he added.
