Victor Osimhen arrives for Super Eagles AFCON preparations
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen seems ready to defy his club doctors advice as the 22 year old has arrived Nigeria ahead of the Super Eagles preparations for the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations which starts next month in Cameroun.
Osimhen posted a picture of himself at the Campus Mini Stadium in Lagos, to support Super Falcon’s captain, Asisat Oshoala in a celebrity All Stars Match as part of raising awareness about her foundation.
“Pulled up for star girl @AsisatOshoala,’ Osimhen wrote iIn a social media post.
There were concerns surrounding the player’s availability for the Africa Cup of Nations after he sustained a multiple facial fracture in a Serie A game between Napoli and Inter Milan at the San Siro stadium in Milan.
The Nigerian was ruled out for three months after surgery which led to fears that he would not be fit to play for Nigeria at the tournament.
However, the former Lille star returned to training last week wearing a mask and put out a tweet on social media that he will be ready to play “if among the players picked to represent Nigeria.”
Super Eagles interim technical adviser Augustine Eguavoen included him in the 28-man list released for the tournament on Saturday.
Osimhen is expected to lead Super Eagles attack at the AFCON. He has scored nine goals in 14 games across all competitions so far this term and his 2021 return has been an impressive 22 goals in all competitions for Napoli.
