WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons eye perfect group finish as Algeria chase history
Group B matches of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024 will reach its crescendo with Nigeria’s Super Falcons facing a spirited Algerian side at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium.
For Nigeria, already through to the quarterfinals and yet to concede a goal, the aim is simple: a perfect group stage finish. With head coach Justin Madugu masterminding two professional victories against Tunisia and Botswana, the Falcons have looked sharp, composed, and resilient.

Algeria’s chances took a hit with the injury to star forward Naïma Bouhani, their main attacking threat. But Benstiti remains unfazed, praising his squad’s depth and unity. Defender Marine Dafeur reinforced the team’s approach: ‘Focus and discipline will be key. We trust each other.’
While the Super Falcons carry continental pedigree and a legacy of domination—having never lost to Algeria at WAFCON—the match is far from a mere formality. Algeria’s resilience, combined with Nigeria’s strategic rotation, creates a dynamic chessboard scenario.
