WAFU-B U17 Championship: Golden Eaglets thrash Baby Cheetahs 4-1 in Yamoussoukro

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets kicked off their WAFU-B U17 Championship campaign in emphatic fashion, overpowering the Baby Cheetahs of Benin Republic 4-1 in Yamoussoukro on Wednesday.
George Agha was the star of the show, netting a brilliant hat-trick, while David Edeh added a touch of class with a stunning free-kick goal.
The five-time world champions wasted no time asserting dominance, with Agha converting a penalty just three minutes in after Boluwatife Thompson was brought down in the box.
Moments later, Edeh showcased his set-piece prowess, curling in a superb free-kick in the 5th minute to double Nigeria’s lead.
The Eaglets, under the guidance of coach Manu Garba, continued to dictate play. Agha struck again in the 14th minute to complete his brace, giving Nigeria a commanding 3-0 advantage.
Benin’s goalkeeper Warris Soumanou then misjudged a play in the 32nd minute, allowing the Eaglets to capitalize. A slick exchange between Thompson and Edeh carved open the defense, setting up Agha to complete his hat-trick.
Benin Republic managed a consolation goal just before halftime, with Jeremy Zannou firing a low drive past the Nigerian defense in the 45th minute.
