Nigeria’s D’Tigers didn’t just beat Tunisia — they sent a message to the rest of AfroBasket 2025: they’re here to win it all.
With a commanding 87–66 victory over the reigning champions, Nigeria surged to a 2–0 record in Group B, and forward Devine Eke summed it up best:
‘We feel good (about the win). The job is not done, but I feel we can win this whole thing. We feel really good. We executed well.
‘We followed our coach’s game plan. Everyone played their role, and if everyone continues to do that, anything is possible,’ he said post-game via the FIBA AfroBasket website.
According to the website, NBA star Josh Okogie was electric, dropping 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting and going perfect from the line (6/6).
His relentless drives, perimeter precision, and defensive hustle gave Nigeria the edge from tip-off to final buzzer.
Nigeria exploded out of the gate with a 10–0 run, forcing Tunisia into an early timeout. Caleb Agada and Ike Nwamu drained threes, while Talib Zanna and Kaodirichi Akonbundu dominated the paint. By the end of the first quarter, D’Tigers led 29–16 — and never looked back.
Coach Abdulrahman Mohamed’s game plan was executed to perfection. Nigeria’s defence suffocated Tunisia’s rhythm, converting turnovers into 17 points and racking up 16 fast-break points. The bench chipped in 25, showing depth and discipline.
