West Brom and Nigeria get Semi Ajayi injury boost

West Brom manager, Carlos Corberán says Super Eagles defender, Semi Ajayi is in contention for Saturday’s Championship game against Hull City at The Hawthorns.

Ajayi injured his ankle in West Brom’s game against Plymouth Argyle two weeks but the Nigerian looks to be back to fitness after he successfully navigated Thursday’s training session with the first-team group .

Corberán revealed the Nigerian will be involved in the matchday squad on Saturday for the visit of Hull City, should they he through Friday’s work without issue.

‘With Semi, we have one more option at centre-back and he was playing in the first XI at the start of the season,’ said the gaffer.

Ajayi’s positive injury news is a boost to Nigeria who play two 2026 World Cup qualifying games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe later this month.

The defender had been ruled doubtful for the games alongside fellow Skybet Championship campaigner, Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City and the Serie A duo Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze.
