World Athletics: 2025 World Championships tickets also on offer at Paris 2024 Olympics

World Athletics says athletes who will begin the battle for Paris 2024 Olympics medals can also secure their qualification to next year’s World Athletics Championships following the release, Wednesday, of the entry standard for the Championships.

The next World Championships, the 20th edition, will be held in Tokyo, the Japanese capital from 13-21 September 2025.

According to World Athletics, ‘the qualification system for the championships will be based on a combination of entry standards and world rankings. The entry standards have been set with the aim of qualifying about 50% of the athletes.

‘The qualifying window for the marathon and 35km race walk is 5 November 2024 until 4 May 2025. For the 10,000m, 20km race walk, combined events and relays, the window runs from 25 February 2024 to 24 August 2025.

‘For all other events, entry standards can be achieved from 1 August 2024 to 24 August 2025.

‘The World Athletics Relays Guangzhou 25 will be used as a qualifying event for the relays with the top 14 teams in each discipline securing their place at the World Championships,’ wrote World Athletics on its website.

For the men, the entry standard in 100m s 10.00 seconds, 20.16 for 200m, 44.85 for 400m, 48.50 for 400m hurdles, 13.27 for 110m hurdles, 8.27m for long jump, 85.50m for Javelin and 21.50m for Shot Put.

For the women, the entry standard is 11.07 for 100m, 22.57 for 200m, 50.75 for 400m, 12.73 for 100m hurdles, 1.97m for high jump, 6.86m for long jump, 14.55m for triple jump, 64.50m for Discus throw and 74.00m for hammer throw.

Japan is hosting the World Athletics Championships for the third time after hosting in 1991 in Tokyo and 2007 in Osaka. Interestingly, Nigeria failed to win any medal on each of the editions and will be looking forward to rewrite the record in 2025.
