World Rankings: Amusan may drop out of 100m hurdles top 10 following Diamond League no shows
World 100m hurdles record holder (12.12) Tobi Amusan may drop out of the event’s top 10 ranking when World Athletics updates the list next week following the Nigerian’s confirmed absence in the 100m hurdles event at the Lausanne and Silesia Diamond League meetings on Thursday and Sunday respectively.
The Nigerian is currently ranked the seventh best in the event with 1371 ranking score.
But some athletes who are ranked below her and who will be competing in Lausanne, Switzerland and Silesia, Poland may supplant the 27-year-old defending Diamond League champion.
Paris 2024 Olympics finalist, Grace Stark is closest to the Nigerian with 1362 ranking score and she will be in Lausanne and Silesia, same as two-time World champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica who is ninth in the ranking with 1358 ranking scores.
Both can easily move above Amusan with a good performance and a good position to secure both good placing and performance scores.
Polish girl, Pai Skrzyszowska will also be seeking to run fast and place among the top three in Silesia on Sunday to have a chance of moving above the Nigerian while former World record holder, Kendra Harrison, known for running very fast in one-day meetings, will hope for a repeat performance of her 12.20 run in 2016 in Monaco, both in Lausanne and Silesia which will certainly catapult her above the woman who took away her 12.20 world record.
